It is produced within the San Guido estate, which with its rugged and unique terrain, with limestone formations and a high stony content (from which it takes the name of "sassicaia") created the perfect conditions for this oenological treasure to germinate.

The name of the estate where the San Guido Bolgheri Sassica Estate derived from San Guido della Gherardesca, who lived in the XNUMXth century. It is a historic winery in the area of Bolgheri, which is located along the Etruscan coast, in the Maremma.
The idea of ​​placing vines in this area originates from Mario Incisa della Ricchetta who, fascinated by the Bordeaux , in 1920 he dreams of creating his own purebred wine. This red from the cutting Bordeaux is made with grapes of Cabernet Sauvignon 85% and of Cabernet Franc al 15%.
The harvest of Sassicaia takes place in August and the winemaking takes place in steel at a controlled temperature with about two weeks of maceration on the skins.
