Il Frescobaldi Chianti, is produced in the estate of Castiglioni, located on the rolling hills of Val di Pesa and characterized by a mild climate and fresh soils and with a rich wine history behind it. Castiglioni has been owned by the Frescobaldi family sinceXI century and point of origin of the winemaking history of the family whose sources date back to 1304 Thanks to a document which records one exchange packaged Michelangelo Buonarroti di wine to artwork. Historically one of the oldest wineries in Italy also benefits from an appreciation of wines both nationally and internationally, especially the historical exports with the papal and English courts. Today the estate has one double vocation: on one side to maintain la history wine that distinguishes it with the cultivation of native vines such as Sangiovese, on the other hand it is exalted as symbol di vanguard in the production of wine thanks to the morphological characteristics of the territory, suitable for giving life to more modern wines but always great structure.


Le morphological characteristics of the soil, rich in clay and with a considerable water retention, allow the grapes to ripen in a way balanced and to reflect softness and a strong and well-defined character in wines such as Frescobaldi Chianti Castiglioni. With a predominance of Sangiovese and a small amount of Merlot it is fermented in stainless steel and subsequently aged for 6 months in vats and one month in the bottle before being marketed. Intense ruby ​​red with purple hues on the nail. Fruity notes of small red berries such as blackberry, currant, raspberry and strawberry prevail on the nose. In the mouth it is warm and soft, with good acidity and excellent balance. The tannins are fine and well blended in the structure and the finish is long and harmonious with a decidedly fruity aftertaste.
