Renewing the vineyards now seems like a trivial matter for this famous Chianti reality which, as an obligatory practice, continues its work slowly, parcel after parcel. However, there is an air of novelty in the cellar, where the decision was made to update two historic labels of the rich production, Ser Gioveto and Roccato. The first strongly desired by Italo, a successful film director and producer and company founder, who dedicated it to his son Sergio as soon as he joined the company in 1985, becomes a Chianti Classico Riserva and abandons the minimum balance of Bordeaux vines. Roccato, conceived in 1988 as a blend, on the contrary renounces Sangiovese and becomes a pure Cabernet Sauvignon. Both choices appear well centered, if on the one hand the Ser Gioveto Reserve becomes a classic representation of Chianti winemaking, on the other Roccato proves to have introjected into its Cabernet all the terroir of the area that characterizes it as a trademark. Of excellence we can speak of the Sergio Zingarelli Grand Selection, fruit of the happy 2015 vintage. Do not miss a relaxing stay in the Relais Riserva di Fizzano, an ancient medieval village owned by it.
