The estate is located on the southern slope of the municipality of Montalcino, at an altitude of 450 meters, with an extension of 540 hectares, 144 of which are planted with vineyards. It enjoys a favorable position, thanks to the barrier formed by Monte Amiata and the influence exerted on the climate by the Tyrrhenian Sea, a perfect southern exposure and soils particularly suited to the cultivation of vines, thanks to the thin clayey matrix rich in limestone and skeleton. . Col d'Orcia, a historic company in Montalcino, now owned by the Marone Cinzano family, began the conversion process in 2010 to obtain organic certification - becoming the largest organic company in all of Tuscany - then followed by the biodynamic choice. The production philosophy is characterized by the attention to detail reserved for each phase of the production process: strictly manual harvest, fermentation in steel tanks at a controlled temperature, aging in wood in Slavonian oak barrels and in French oak barrels. Great attention to nature was also placed in the construction of the aging cellar, which dates back to 1990, perfectly inserted in the green of the Mediterranean vegetation. Absent last year, the jewel of the house is back with great fanfare, a sumptuous version of the Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Poggio al Vento.
