A place of worship for enthusiasts, the Castle of Fonterutoli is where, according to legend, the meeting between the podestà of the rival municipalities Siena and Florence took place, to delimit the territories to which they belong and which constituted the Military and Administrative League of Chianti, assuming the Gallo Nero. From here Lapo Mazzei, president of the Consortium for two decades, worked hard to win one of the first DOCGs in the boot. In the cellar of Castellina, making excellent wine is a mission that the Mazzei marquises have honored since 1435, with extreme respect for the environment (eco-sustainable agriculture and integrated defense), and with eyes turned to the future, (see the experiments on countless Sangiovese biotypes) . The presentation of the famous Siepi, still intent on completing the maturation during our tastings, has been postponed for a further year and we find a version of Concerto more intriguing than ever, a mythical red among the first to leave the disciplinary in the Eighties.
