In addition to being affable and talented, the fourth generation of the Tommasi, famous Venetian producers, is also represented by unstoppable people. Their properties travel under full sail between Veneto, Lombardy, Tuscany and Puglia. The Casisano farm, on the south-eastern side of the Montalcino appellation, between the Abbey of Sant'Antimo and the valley of the Orcia river, is characterized by a warm climate and pure marl soils, in a well-ventilated position. The choice to use only large barrels in the cellar or not to produce Brunello in less promising vintages such as 2014, speaks volumes about the kind of commitment made by the Valpolicellese family. In the absence of the “vintage” Brunello, we are therefore heartened by an excellent 2013 Riserva and a re-tasting of the 2010 Brunello, which appeared to us at a particularly happy moment in its taste-olfactory evolution.
