The brothers Maria Iris and Claudio Tipa, who have always shared a passion for nature and great wines, have realized their dream by creating a "Domaine" in Tuscany. Today ColleMassari includes three estates: since 1998 the Castello di ColleMassari, since 2002 the Podere Grattamacco and since 2011 the Fattoria Poggio di Sotto. Tenuta Castello ColleMassari was founded in 1998 and is located on the slopes of Monte Amiata, oriented towards the Tyrrhenian coast at 320 meters above sea level, enjoying a microclimate favored by strong ventilation and large temperature variations. The company covers an area of 1200 hectares of which 110 are vineyards, 60 are olive groves, 400 hectares of arable land and the remaining part of woods, furthermore the estate is surrounded by state-owned forests for about 1200 hectares. The steep hilly vineyards with an average gradient of 15% are trained with spurred cordon and double Guyot with an average yield of 60 quintals per hectare. During the harvest great care is given to the selection of the grapes, selected for the first time with a vibrant sorting table and then placed on a second sorting table with a sliding belt for further manual selection of the grapes. The agronomic management of the company follows the criteria of organic cultivation guaranteed and certified by ICEA.
